Emergency shut off valves for increased safety in LPG and NH3 systems

Emergency shut off valves, also called "ESV’s", provide a safe and operation-friendly functionality and are designed for installation in liquid transfer lines at LPG or NH3 bulk plants to provide a quick shut-off of liquid or vapor flow in the event of an accidental pull-away, line break, or hose rupture.

Product description

Emergency shut-off valves are vital safety units in gas applications and are installed at the inlet and outlet phases of liquid or vapour lines. They function by responding to extreme changes in pressure, flow and temperatures by shutting off flow both upstream and downstream.

Features

Emergency shut off valve:

  • Can be opened using an operational lever or a pneumatic rotary actuator
  • Can be closed by pressing down the lever, by remote control or by a pneumatic rotary actuator
  • Quick closing regardless of operational state
  • Seat disc retained by a metal seat to minimise leakage when exposed to fire

Sturdy rugged construction:

  • Withstands hydraulic shock of sudden closings, piping strain and temperature variations
  • Leak-free performance at low pressures and temperatures due to its spring-loaded stem seals

Pneumatic rotary actuator:

  • Easy to install
  • Includes a thermal fuse
  • Fits all three sizes available
  • Pre-set open/close operations including an open/close indicator
  • Operates on compressed air or nitrogen
  • Working pressure range of 1.7 to 8.6 bar (25 to 125 psi)
  • Compact design and long operating life

Did you know?

When exposed to fire or temperatures exceeding 100˚C (212˚F), internal fuse links will melt, and a spring-loaded poppet will cause the flow of product to stop

According to *6.12.1 NFPA 58-2011 edition, any tank or container storage systems with an aggregate capacity greater than 15.14 m3 (4,000 gallons) is required to have an ESV installed within 6 m (20 feet) of the nearest end of the hose connection when the liquid and vapor lines are : 1: 1-1/2” or larger (liquid lines) 2: 1-1/4” or larger (vapor lines)

An ESV thermal element is required to be installed within 1.5 m (5 feet) of the nearest hose connection
